Why Does A Village Pub Matter ?

A village pub is about much more than having somewhere to buy a pint.

It’s a place to meet friends, catch up with neighbours, celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, enjoy a meal, welcome visitors and simply have somewhere local to go.

For some people, especially those who live alone, it can be an important place for regular conversation and company.

A good village pub brings people together. It supports local events, creates jobs, attracts visitors and helps give a village its sense of community.

Once a village pub is lost, it can be very difficult to get it back.

That’s why we believe The Ship Inn matters — not just as a building, but as a place at the heart of Surfleet Seas End and the wider community.

We’re working to give The Ship a future — owned for the benefit of the community.
